I’m back and tips for the X Mod Pack

Sorry for the lack of posting, I have been busy with work and customers over the last few weeks/months but I get time to play with Minecraft a few times over the last few weeks.

A bit of a recap. I regenerated my world in Minecraft 1.0 and called the world “Huxley” in reference to a “Brave New World”. I started building and using the mods in the pack to great advantage. I got to a stage that I had so much stuff that I closed down the world for now and am starting installing the X Mod Pack 2.1 for Minecraft 1.1. More about that later.

While playing on the X Mod Pack I have gotten into a rhythm for playing it and surviving. Here are some tips:

  • Wander around till you find a desert and build your house up high to prevent mobs from spawning and raiding your house.
  • After building a shelter you should start looking for buried treasure to build up your resources.
  • Plant apple trees to have food to survive on.
  • Once you have enough resources build a house to your individual specifications
  • Remember to set your spawn point using a bed in your new house.
  • Go out on raiding parties to dungeons to gather more resources.
  • If you can build an Alchemy Bag (think Hermione's Bag in Deathly Hallows) it is good idea so you can hold extra loot.
  • Always carry a bucket of water (it can come in handy a lot especially in disabling traps).

I will be posting a summary of the Huxley world over the next few days before I start on a 1.1 adventure.

X Mod Pack– Buried Treasures

One of the most fun parts of the X Mod Pack is the Buried Treasures Mod. This mod hides chests with goodies (sometimes they are empty) in biomes. Spending a minecraft day or two finding these chests is well worth it as they yield all sorts of goodies.

One of my favourite looking places is in Desert biomes. More than likely treasures are hidden in the sands.

I have found lots in my maps and here are a few tips to finding them and using them:

  • Find a flat area in the biome and start there by digging layer by layer.
  • Not all chests have items some are empty (do not lament).
  • When you find a chest usually more chests are close by (a few blocks away).
  • Keep peeling layers until you find sandstone or stone. Chests are in layers.
  • Do not forget to collect the chests themselves.

I spent a few minecraft days searching around my base and collected armour, metals, tools, weapons, TNT, food, coal and lots of other nice goodies. I have now got a very large amount of inventory which I can use throughout my gaming.
